Who are you? Can you tell us a bit about yourself?

Hello! I’m Ebru, living in Ankara. I work in the intellectual property field at a private firm while also creating content as a side passion. I also have a background in music—although I’ve taken a break for now.

How did your interest in home decor start? What motivated you the most to pursue this field?

Since childhood, I’ve always enjoyed putting things together to create harmony, decorating even the simplest objects, and brainstorming creative ideas. I was always the “artsy” one in the family! As I grew older, these traits stuck with me—my fascination with colors and harmony only deepened.

Three years ago, when I got married and started setting up a home with my partner, the idea of creating a space entirely tailored to our tastes was incredibly exciting for me. Since then, I’ve been immersed in the world of home decor and loving every moment of it! :)

Is there a particular interior design style or movement that inspires you the most?

I’d say I resonate most with an eclectic style. For instance, I adore the use of natural materials like wood in Scandinavian design, but I’m also deeply influenced by timeless mid-century pieces. However, if I had to pick one favorite, I’d go with modern Scandinavian style.

What do you think are the most prominent decor trends right now?

Blending Scandinavian design with bold colors is still a popular trend, in my opinion. Additionally, the increasing use of chrome elements has brought industrial style more into the spotlight recently.

Where do you turn for inspiration? (Books, magazines, social media accounts, etc.)

Like many content creators, I spend a lot of time on social media. There’s a fantastic community of both local and international creators that inspire me. I also turn to Pinterest, YouTube design channels, and magazines as great sources of inspiration.

Is there a decor trend you hope to see more of in the future?

I hope to see more natural materials being used, as we seem to crave nature more and more, escaping to it whenever we can. On the other hand, with technology advancing so rapidly and our growing appetite for quick and practical solutions, it’s also possible we might move in the opposite direction.

What’s your favorite spot in your home, and what makes it special?

I’ve always been a homebody, and we love spending time at home. So, I have several favorite spots! I’d say curling up with a blanket and coffee on the sofa by the coffee table during winter, working at the dining table, or spending time near the bookshelf are my top picks.

How would you describe your favorite color palette? Is there a color you believe works well in any space?

I love balancing vibrant, warm tones with natural materials like wood and pastel colors. If I were to pick a single color that works in any space, it would be green—it’s so calming! 💚

Finally, what advice would you give to someone just starting to decorate their home?

Definitely, don’t rush! Decorating a home to reflect your own style takes time because as you live in the space, you gradually discover what you truly love and what brings you joy. Taking your time allows you to enjoy the process more, and everything will fall into place naturally.
